Unbelievable Deal

So I waited until the last minute to find a dress to wear to a wedding today.

Went to Urban Outfitters and found this little guy for only....$4.99!!!!!!Can you believe it?!?! The price was supposed to be $9.99 (still an amazing deal) but they mislabeled it and said they had to sell it for the price on the tag! I even offered to
pay $9.99.

Today Urban Outfitters spread some love...so why don't you do the same!!

Rainbows...

I saw this beautiful rainbow as I walked out of my apartment this morning.

Its almost like God knows exactly when you are feeling little defeated or sad and he says...bring out the rainbow!!!

Wouldn't it be so cool to give out rainbows like Oprah gave away cars?! You get a rainbow, you get a rainbow...EVERYBODY GETS A RAINBOW!!! :)

Keep spreading the love peeps,

Summary of my lent fast...

I am a little behind posting this but I have to say this was the toughest Lent fast that I have ever done. A total of $300 was saved during my fast from unecessary spending. $300!!! I did break the rules a few times. I told you about the contact lens case but I also purchased conditioner and a scarf during the fast.

I saw a blog post that perfectly summarizes my goals for this fast...check it out below:
Closet Freak

This focuses on clothes...but it can be applied to all areas of your spending. Only purchase this that you absolutely love and are going to use. In other words...you have to LOVE it!!!!!

Keep the love spreading!

Spending Freeze FAIL

Update: So I broke my fast already! :/ I didn’t even make it a full week without buying something totally unnecessary. I resisted spending for two hours in the mall this past weekend with friends. And seriously I think EVERY store was having some kind of close out extra 75% off sale, but I stayed strong. It was clear in the mall that I did not need any of those items.

My friend Fabiana is joining the fast of no spending with me. She recently went into Old Navy to return something and get a black maxi.  (We decided that returns are totally acceptable under the no spending fast as long as you don't spend any additional money.) She ended up not buying the maxi and her text as to why was too funny:

I will keep you guys posted on my progress. In the meantime...spread love all around the world people!

“If I'm only going to have 1 black maxi skirt then that 1 skirt has to be clear and deliberate. Most importantly I have to love it." -Fab

This was so on point to what the goal of this fast is about: Only make purchases that are DELIBERATE and only for items that you LOVE.  I want to stop spending my hard earned money on compulsive unnecessary purchases. Defining what my true needs really are.

So to complete the story I have to let you in on what I bought. It was a contact lens case carrier with a small mirror. **holds head down in shame**

I was at the eye doctor and these cute little contact cases were right at the register so I just threw them it in the mix. Oh marketing you win again! But I will be stronger and I will get better. To make up for it I doubled the amount and placed it into my savings account, I know it’s not much, but it’s the principle.

Bye Bye Buying...

Hello Lovelies,
Today is Ash Wednesday which marks the first day of Lent. A lot of spiritual people celebrate this day as the beginning of a 40 day fast. Some give up bad habits, some take on good habits, but each person makes a sacrifice of some sort during these 40 days to honor our good friend Jesus.

Last year I gave up television and to say that was difficult is an understatement. Try walking into a friend's living room with a 60 in television and NOT looking at it, but I survived. I tried my best and it made me realize even more that cable is a rip off and now I live without it saving ~$100 / month.

This year I am challenging myself even further. I am giving up any and all unnecessary spending. For the next 40 days will not buy anything that is not a true need. This will require discipline...and with discipline there has to be rules.

So I have to define what my true needs are:
1. Food: Groceries and restaurant meals.
2. Shelter and Bills: Rent, Electric, Internet, Cellphone, Tithes, Daycare,
3. Transportation: Gas, and any car maintenance
4. Baby Needs: Diapers, Food, etc.

Anything outside this list will not be purchased for the next 40 days. No more shopping for clothes, shoes, toys, gadgets, make-up, purses , movie rentals, household accessories, or any of my beloved hair products.

So wish me luck and I will keep you guys updated on my progress. Jesus is love so spread some of that around people!!! :)

Cooks:

So I made a Veggie Breakfast Casserole this weekend.....

Here's how:

1 Sautee mushrooums, spinach, tomatoes and onions with a tablespoon of olive oil.

2 Pour sauteed vegetables into a mixing bowl with four eggs and one cup of cheddar cheese.

3 Place an unrolled layer of crescent rolls on the bottom of a baking dish and pour in your vegetable egg mix. Add any leftover dough to the top of the mixture

4. Bake for 30 minutes on 350 and you are DONE!

Easy Peasy! And its delish with maple syrup on it!!

Cookie Rehab...

Hi my name is Latia Vines and I am a certified cookie monster!!!!

My favorite type of cookies are the classic Shortbreads by the Girl Scouts which are also sometimes called Trefoils.

The fact that they aren't sold year-round or in stores makes them that much more of a treat!

I know you have a favorite too!
So spread some love and let me know what it is!

Typical Tip....

So I decided it was a great idea to lock my keys in the car after leaving the gym yesterday! :)

AAA had me back on the road in about 30 min. Seriously, if you don't have it...GET IT! And if you are wondering if it is worth it my answer is yes!!!

Pros: Saves you a lot of things including but not limited to: money, time, stress, and worry!

Cons: I cant think of any. The yearly cost is so low it pays for itself the first time you use it. It gives you discounts on travel. This is simply a must have if you drive a car or travel on a regular basis.

Keep spreading love people!

We're the red and white from State....

Although my current place of employment has absolutely nothing to do with my major, and I don't make anywhere near the amount of money I should... I still have to show my love and appreciation for the NC STATE WOLFPACK!

We played Boston College tonight and walked away with a win. GO STATE!!

Coming to a home basketball game really makes me remember all of the friends, fun, and oh yes education that I received while at State.
Thx Mari! :)

Spead love ladies and gents!

A steal!!

These all natural body washes and body lotions by Love and Toast were on clearance at Target!  I've only used them for a few days but they smell absolutely amazing, and have left my dry winter skin looking and feeling much better.

Pros:
All natural ingredients, super moisturizing, great scents, and cute packaging. After reading more about the company I realize that not only are the products great but also their mission....you really should check them out!
Cons:
The scent is pretty strong. If you don't like strong fragrances in your products this is NOT for you. The square containers while being super cute, are a bit awkward to squeeze.

Don't forget to spread love today people!

The truth about "ouchless" bands...

They pull my hair out! Luckily my great friend Naimah put me on to the REAL ouchless hair bands. What makes these so great? Its simple: no metal, no glue, just fabric.

Pros:
They won't snap apart on you just as you are creating a fabulous bun. More importantly they wont take any of your strands hostage when you take them out.

Cons:
They will stretch out over time. Can you say hello headband or big puff hair tie? :)

No more of my strands will fall victim to those "ouchless imposters".

Needless to say, I was way too excited when I left CVS.
